UnChained

UNLEASHING HUMAN POTENTIAL,
ONE DOG AT A TIME.

We pair rescue dogs with justice-involved youth on California’s Central Coast.

UnChained is built on a simple idea: when you give a dog a second chance, you unlock a young person's potential to change their own life.

For over a decade, our Canines Teaching Compassion program has shown what happens when we provide a safe, structured shared space. We maintain clear boundaries and accountability so both the youth and the dogs can actually succeed.

It isn't about fixing anyone. It's about giving them the tools to build patience, trust, and real connection.

Our graduate canine, Gigi, is now officially the first permanent resident dog at Monterey County Juvenile Hall. She's staying right there to keep the work going.

As one of our students said: "These dogs are like us, they need a second chance."

Our pilot program tested this same approach. We put rescue dogs and justice-involved youth together to see what they could learn from each other.

It turns out they learned a lot more than we expected.

We're taking this momentum and joining forces with a local parent organization. It's time to scale this impact and reach more humans and dogs across our Central Coast!
